About PSC
Public Sector Consultants is a
private Michigan corporation providing policy research in the areas
of health, education,
economics, the environment,
and technology; survey
research; program evaluation;
and strategic counsel.
Since its inception in 1980, PSC’s services have been commissioned
by hundreds of state and local government agencies, school districts,
colleges and universities, professional associations, hospitals,
foundations, and private corporations. Some of the firm’s reports
have attracted national and regional attention, and many have had
a substantial effect on public policies and attitudes.
Clients from both the private and public sectors use
the firm’s research, analytical, and advisory capacities to
develop and implement policies and strategic plans; improve internal
management; identify stakeholder priorities and address conflicts
between corporate and community interests; and identify political,
regulatory, and economic factors influencing corporate and agency
decisions.
The firm is experienced in managing sizable contracts,
adhering to deadlines, and providing professional and clearly written
reports. PSC has more than 25 employees and a roster of affiliated
consultants.
Why Choose Public Sector Consultants?
Since 1980, Public Sector Consultants has both monitored
and helped shape Michigan public policy. Our independent research
enables us to identify problems at the state and local level, clarify
options, and recommend solutions. Our analyses of state government
and public policy issues are the most cogent, comprehensive, and
readable published.
Our reputation for solid, nonpartisan research and
our good working relationships in the regulatory and finance communities
serve our clients well. Our clients are pleased by our recognition
of and respect for their particular interests, and they benefit
by our standing as a company of integrity.
PSC’s Unique Approach to Public Policy
Public Sector Consultants is committed to fostering
good public policy. We therefore work with clients whose interests
intersect with the public good, organizations wishing to make a
difference not only in their own private sphere but also in their
communities, however small or large.
We thrive on projects that demand innovative responses
to public policy issues. Our clients look to us to understand current
policy thoroughly, its implications for all interested parties,
and alternate paths to move policy from the present to a better
future. Along with our clients, we are policy leaders.
PSC’s uniqueness lies in what we know (content
expertise), how we communicate complex policy issues to experts
and informed laypersons (translation), and how we bring together
diverse stakeholders to look at innovative approaches to policy
(facilitation). Other organizations may have experts in one or two
of these areas. The strength of our consultants in all three is
the value we bring to our clients.
Dialogue among people with varied perspectives must
go hand in hand with thorough research to create sound policy. Ideology
is by its nature inflexible; it divides rather than joins people.
Our approach to policy research, evaluation, and facilitation is
objective, inclusive, and nonpartisan. PSC believes that clients
and policy are best served when diverse points of view are voiced,
all research approaches are considered, and stakeholders collaborate
to implement consensus solutions.
Our research and facilitation are disciplined, with
clear project goals, specific and measurable results, and a focused
step-by-step path from start to finish. Research and group processes
can be unwieldy, but we diligently keep on task to deliver value
to clients and their constituents. While we will consider unconventional
solutions to clients’ policy issues, we make certain that
any solutions are socially and financially sustainable.
